In June 1241, King St Louis gathered all the Knights of his Kingdom in Saumur to celebrate initiation of his brother Alphonse and honour him with the title of Count of Poitou, taking over from Richard Lion Heart. This symbolic gesture marked the Capetian era against the Plantagenets, many extraordinary feasts consequently occured. One of them stayed in history for its great magnificence, over 3000 Knights as well as numerous Foreign Princes took part in it, it was named: "La Nompareille".
